Who You Gonna Call Live – June Event
Featuring John Bruno, Visual Effects Art Director on Ghostbusters and Academy Award-winning Visual Effects Supervisor on The Abyss, joins Claire & Anthony Bueno for a special live conversation on cinematic storytelling and visual effects
This June, we’re welcoming a very special guest to Who Ya Gonna Call… Live.
On Saturday 27th June at 19:30 GMT, we’ll be joined live by John Bruno, Visual Effects Art Director on the original Ghostbusters.
John played a key role in shaping the visual world of the film, working at a time when everything had to be created practically, with creativity, precision and collaboration at the heart of the process.
Alongside his work on Ghostbusters, John went on to build an extraordinary career in visual effects, including winning an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for his work on The Abyss.
John has received 6 Academy award nominations for Ghostbusters, Poltergeist 2, Batman Returns, Cliffhanger and True Lies.
He is also widely known for his long-standing collaboration with director James Cameron, contributing to films such as The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Abyss, True Lies, Titanic and Avatar — projects that helped redefine what was possible in modern filmmaking.
For this session, we’ll explore John’s experience working on Ghostbusters, his wider work across these landmark productions, and what it really takes to bring complex cinematic worlds to life.
As with all Who Ya Gonna Call… Live events, this is a 2.5-hour live online session via Zoom, with a relaxed, in-depth conversation followed by a live audience Q&A, where you can ask your own questions directly.
